About The Legacy Academy
Empowering children to walk boldly in their God-given identity.

Our Mission
Partnering with parents to build on what home already gives.
At Pittsburgh Legacy Academy Homeschool Resource Center, our mission is to partner with God, with parents, and with the community to empower children through education to live out their true identities. We believe every child is created in the image of God and holds a massive capacity for understanding and creativity. Our instructors holdfast to a Christ-centered, Biblical worldview and have a passion to empower children with their knowledge and skillset.
We understand that the traditional education system often falls short in helping children reach their highest potential. As homeschooling parents, you’ve taken bold steps to ensure your children receive a meaningful and personalized education. We're here to support that journey — not replace it — by offering rich, hands-on learning opportunities grounded in faith, truth, and excellence.
Where We're Headed
A two-phase vision for Christian education in Pittsburgh

The Resource Center
We're expanding our Homeschool Resource Center to eventually offer dozens of courses serving hundreds of homeschool students of all ages — from traditional subjects like calculus and chemistry to specialized electives like baking or carpentry. Every course is designed to help children develop and thrive in their true, God-given identities.

A Full-Time Christian School
Looking ahead, The Legacy Academy will open a private Christian school for full-time enrollment, with a rigorous literacy curriculum that develops critical thinkers and prolific writers. Students will also choose from dozens of electives and apprenticeship opportunities tied to the vocations they're most drawn to.
Our Founder
Started by a teacher who wanted more for his students.
Seth Wermager, director of The Legacy Academy, left his public education career of fourteen years to pursue a vision for a greater education for our nation's children. That decision became the foundation for a growing community of families, instructors, and volunteers all working toward the same goal.
